What’s on my CD player this week…Bruno Mars

Let me start out by saying that I just love, love, love Bruno Mars’ sound. It is funky and can dance to it. His lyrics are fresh and witty. I love to listen to him sing. He is the funky to my funk. Someday I’ll go see him live. That I can not wait for. He is currently on tour but only in Vagas, a girl can dream. Road Trip! So this week I am listening to a few of his albums. Hey, I have long drive to and from work, I can listen to a full album in one trip, so why not listen to all three.

His album “Doo-Woops and Hooligans” is filled with hits, from Grenade to Count on me. I listened to this one loud. I also tuned in to “Unorthodox Jukebox” another fun album to listen to, nice and loud. This is the album that has Locked out of Heaven that sounds to me like a Police song from the 80’s. My favorite song from this album is one that did not make it to the charts Money Makes Her Smile is another fun song with a funky rock-pop sound. The last and final album from this week is “XXIVk Magic.” Perm is my absolute favorite. “Throw so perm on that attitude, girl you gotta relax.” Clever Bruno, cleaver. I see what you did there with the relax a perm play on.

I also like Bruno Mars as he writes his own lyrics and music he is an accomplished musician who started as an Elvis Presley impersonator at a young age. His music makes me feel all of the feels. I laugh, I dance, I say oh snap at his wittyness. And, then, I listen to his albums all over again.

What I’m listening to this week: Sam Smith from 2014

This week I am listening to Sam Smith’s album “In the Lonely Hour: Drowning Shadows Edition.” I got this album from my local library when I went to go pick up a book and walked by they CD section. Sam Smith spoke to me and I took it home with me. I’ve been listening to it, to and from my long commute to work. Hey, it won him four Grammys, its gotta be a good one.
This album as his hits “Stay With Me,” “I’m Not the Only One” and many others but my favorite one is “Latch” live from Madison Square Garden. “How are you feeling tonight New York?”…At one point he tells his band to stop playing. Then says, “New York wouldn’t it be amazing if Disclosure were here tonight?” and I yelled in my car YES! And the crowd goes wild and so do I. Here comes Disclosure with its pop hit. You see I am an EDM girl. Give me Tiësto , Skrillex or Snake any day and I will be in the best of moods.
The next song that I really enjoyed from this album is “Lay Me Down” featuring John Legend. I just love John Legend on the piano, it gives the goose bumps. “Money on My Mind” is a song I forgot about but was stuck in my mind all afternoon.
“Stay with Me” featuring Mary J. Blige also gave the goose pimples. The “No More Drama” singer compliments Sam Smith on this song. It made me love this song all over again.
“La La La” has my favorite lyrics “I’m covering my ears just like a kid. When your words mean nothing I go, la la la.” I hear myself singing this to myself at work, rolling my eyes and making a face lol.

Overall this album was a great listen from beginning to end. I just love his tenor voice. Do you know what he spent his money on from this album? For his winnings…he spent it all on cheese! This is according to an interview from Rolling Stone magazine. Who doesn’t love cheese?
