Today started off just wrong. I had a dream about Matthew McConaughey and we were in an amusement park together in the morning hours. Why this particular celebrity and why am I in a ferris wheel? I do not know. But I digress! The afternoon came and by he ditched me for this other friends. But I wasn’t mad, he waited and made sure I wasn’t by myself and that my other friend had shown up so I wouldn’t be alone. Then he left and we met again the next morning for coffee and he told me all about his afternoon and night with his other, clearly, rich friends. As they went out to chic night clubs and met up at the frufru country club. As we parted ways he told me he loved me and I told him that I loved him more. My heart skipped a beat and then I opened my eyes and looked at my phone. I got up in a panic as my alarm didn’t go off and I was almost late for work. Of course work is now 5 steps away from the bed, but regardless, I was almost late to log in for my 8AM checkin IM to my boss. But phew, I made it just in time. I quickly got dressed and ready and was on my way to a Monday at the “office.”
In the afternoon we went for a drive and passed by our local Tanger outlet store. It was of course, empty, due to this corona virus business. We saw shops that still had their Valentines day merchandise on the windows. I can’t believe its been over a month now that we are in quarantine. I can remember when we could barely find a parking spot at the outlets during President’s day or on a regular Sunday. Now it is deserted.
Tuesday was as normal as usual. Placed in an order through Shipt and await the disaster that it was last week. But I am hopeful! Hopefully they will deliver tomorrow afternoon as promised by the website.
In the morning hours my daughter and I sat by the computer and had a conference call with her teacher. She was so delighted to see Mr. Burns as well as all of the other kids via video chat. She showed off her stuffed animal and said hi to her dear little friends. At the end they all stood up and said the Pledge of Allegiance. It was really cute!

On Wednesday, I drove my husband to work. We both woke up before the roosters at 5AM and off we went. Then I came home and got a workout in. Took a nice cool shower and logged in to work at 8AM and did my morning check in with the boss. Then logged in to my daughters virtual class at 9AM. The kids were all saying hi to each other, it was really nice. The teacher let them talk it out a little bit and then they had a share session. Some of the kids shared about their day other shared about Easter and others shared drawings and things they colored. This has become their new normal.
Later in the day my Shipt shopper sent me a text message that she was doing our shopping. I was so exited that this was actually happening! I’ve been having so much trouble with them and not getting deliveries, that just receiving a text message made me feel all of the happy feels. Like YAY we’re getting MILK and EGGS!…It’s the little things. Then, here comes the anxiety of having to put on gloves and clean everything with bleach wipes before bringing the groceries inside the house. We don’t want corona on any of the surfaces of the products that were brought to us. The girl from Shipt delivered, I left her a nice tip at the door, no contact. And then a cleaning I went. Once all of the groceries were clean, all of the clothes go into the hamper and hands and arms get washed.
During my lunch hours I started watching the news, and saw that more and more people are dying from this crazy virus. Now we have an executive order from the Governor of NY that all must wear a mask if out in public. This virus is so scary! I hope they find a vaccine soon!
Later that day we went for our drive to get out of the house and noticed a pretty field with a truck a nice entrance. And of course, my favorite, the sun set. All from the dashboard of the car.

Thursday was as long as could be. With a ton of conference calls during the day, including the one with my daughter’s teacher. So much for working in my PJs! All of these conference calls are a video chat and I feel like I need to look presentable. But thats ok, I just wear my work from home wardrobe of jeans and a warm sweater.

I hear it is a nice day outside and my little one get out there and play for a little while with Grandma. As for me, I am stuck in my bedroom/office.
It’s lunch time and I only have a few minutes to eat my lunch as work has taken over. And my little one wants to go outside and ride her bike. I have to make a deal with her that we will go outside on the weekend as today is cold outside. And after mommy and daddy get off work, it will be much colder. Meanwhile, she is putting on her knee and elbow pads and has her helmet ready. But I have a conference call and can not take her outside. Working from home with a child is not easy. Then, hooray, my conference call was postponed for an hour and we went outside for a little bike ride. It was cool but we put on our jackets and all of our equipment including a helmet and went outside into the wild. A fire truck passed by and we waived to the guys and gals as they drove by.
Once she was done with bike riding, we looked at mommy’s flowers in the garden and we picked a couple of them to give to Grandma. The little one said “I want to pick these for Grandma because I love her.” Grandama was so delighted when she saw her little Granddaughter with flowers for her. We put them in a little glass and placed them by our Lady of Fatima statue in the dining room.

Friday started off with me having to help my husband with his lunch. He’s usually very good with this as he wakes up at 4AM to get his lunch and everything else ready for work. But today, he woke up a little late and he asked me if I could help him get everything ready. Of course I went and we make his coffee and got his lunch ready. As well as my coffee and mother-in-law’s coffees in our Jirushi thermoses. These thermoses are fantastic. They keep the coffee hot for hours. This brand was recommended by my work husband Anthony. He has one and he loves it. It keeps his tea nice and hot all day long.

Later that morning my Daughter and I had our morning conference call with her teacher then a conference call for me and my coworkers. The teacher wanted to also have a conference call at 10AM this morning. This does not work for working parents. We’ve already taken about an hour off of our jobs to have the kids do a conference call. Now he wants another hour. This can’t be, I can’t take two hours off work. Besides, this is probably going to be one of those meetings that could have just been and email lol. Meanwhile, my little one has been practicing her reading with Grandma and she is starting to get it. Hopefully, we’ll have her reading in no time. We’ll see how much patience Grandma has with her.
At noon we had a “Leadership Discussion with Ivy Algazy from The Women’s Collaborative” conference call. The speaker talked about how to cope with working from home and the new normal of dealing with this virus. Then we all shared about what we are all doing to cope. In the end, the main thing was to take care of yourself…go for a walk and keep up with routines. Also, to buy locally and stay in touch with others. This was a great little break from the monotony of everyday quarantine. After the call I’m feeling a little somber as I am missing my lunch crew.
Then I’m listening to the news and more and more people are passing away from this covid-19 virus. The President wants to re-open the economy but people keep dying in the hundreds every day. Over 400 are currently intubated in Long Island. Although the numbers are going down. I’m not sure how we’re going to do this while we are still in a crisis situation. I truly hope he has a good plan.
I have been intubated in the past and let me tell you, it is not a walk in the park. At one point my lungs were filled with liquid and the Drs were taking the liquid out of my lungs and the sensation was that it was taking my breath away. So scary.
In the evening we went out for our daily drive to get out of the house. It was a quick one this time as we were all tired. It has been a long week and we all need our beauty sleep. We got home, my husband fed our yeast and we went to bed. Yes, we are trying to make our own yeast since we can not find any at the store. It has worked out ok so far. The first batch of bread we made with the yeast didn’t rise so much, but the second one was much better. We are doing everything we can to combat this virus, this includes attempting to making our own foods.
Good night and stay safe!
