It’s ok to Laugh (Crying is Cool Too) by Nora McIneray Purmont

I’ve just finished listening to Nora McIneray Purmonts’ “It’s OK to Laugh (Crying is Cool Too)” and it gave me all of the feels. It made me laugh and ugly cry on my commute from work. People were asking me if I was ok while sitting in traffic wiping my red eyes. This book has raw emotions on the author’s personal tragedies. From laughter on her dad’s military like personality to her real awful times at the hospital with her husband as he is withering away from the #stupidcancer.

This book shows perspective! I changed my mind real quick about my personal trials and tribulations. I have been through some things but loss like this hasn’t been one of them.

This compilations of true heartfelt essays is a must read…in my case listen.

Sweet Sunday

Making sweets with my sweet girl today. We made vanilla boxed cake and added chocolate chips. Once cooled we added cream cheese frosting, more chocolate chips and jelly beans as eggs. We were going for nests with eggs in them… clearly we *nailed it*!

How to Murder Your Life by Cat Marnell

“How to Murder Your Life” by Cat Marnel. I’ll be totally honest, this book was a little uneasy for me to get through. All of the drugs and terrible people cat was hanging out with made me want to scream at her “What are you doing and with these awful people! Did your parents not love you enough.” The amount of self distruction was a little too much for me at times. But I’m glad I got through it. If anything, it taught me the effects of some of the uppers and downers without having to experience them myself nor have to ask anyone with addiction issues.

Also, I’m glad that I listened to the audiobook and not read it myself. The authors own sass made it all worth it. Especially when she did her friends and grandma’s accents… very funny!

Overall I enjoyed the book very much as it empowered me to get out there and show my true self not only in the workplace but also at home with my family and friends. Good work Marnell!

Ahh Spring

First day of Spring also known to me as the happiest day of the year. I love flowers and plants and today is the day that I look forward for them to bloom, sans the allergies.

For spring, we’ve made brownies with bunnies and carrots. They are delicious and look so cute.

Also, this is the first time I’ve used this cake pan. I borrowed it from the library. It’s a wonderful place!

Another day of Firsts

Today was the fist time that I have been to a Hobby Lobby. Holly molly was it nice!

It was a whole new world of decorative goods that I can sprinkle throughout my home. For my first visit I purchased a sleek picture frame to put my daughters christening photo.

I will continue to go back there as there are a lot of decoration items I need to purchase and start to fill up my house. I hope my husband doesn’t get too overwhelmed. =)

A day of Firsts

Today I found a good deal on a few dresses from Amazon and am ordering them. I have never ordered clothing off of Amazon and can not wait to see how they fit.

I’ve ordered via from Victoria’s Secret in the past and the majority of the items did not fit me right. I probably should have gotten myself sized at a store and then made my purchase. Instead, I just winged it. Ahh the silly things young people do.

I will post to let you know how my day of firsts goes.

Fast Forward two weeks:

So I received my dresses and boy do they look terrible. The models look fantastic. Fresh and clean, me on the other hand, what at terrible show. Sorry Amazon, they are all going back. This was a terrible idea. I’ll probably do it again soon LOL.

Unicorns for everyone

This weekend we has our daughters’ birthday party at Safari Adventure in Riverhead, NY.

This year we went with a unicorn themed party. Thank goodness for Party City and them figuring out that a lot of little girls just love unicorns.

We purchased everything there, from the party decorations to napkins and plates. We had a great time and my little one just loved being with all of her friends and family.

International Women’s Day

On this international women’s day I am celebrating all of the strong women in my life. From my personal to professional relationships, all of the women I associate with are strong and beautiful.

With that I’d like to share a book that I just finished reading…listening, it was an audio book I borrowed from my local library.

The book is called How to Be A Bawse by Lily Singh. She writes how to be your own boss just by being yourself, hussle and believing in yourself. She also started a wonderful movement #GirlLove where women compliment other women on their accomplishments.

On this international women’s day let’s all #girllove like Lily Singh

Stop cursing

I’m not very religious, but I always take part in giving things up for lent.

This year I am giving up cursing. I have a small child at home and I use foul language around her and then tell her that mommy said a bad word and to not repeat it.

So for the next 40 days, I will do my part in utilizing better language.

Wish me luck!
